I love wearing heels! Always have, always will, regardless of my height. When I got my job in Manhattan this semester, this is a question I was Googling: How to wear heels in NYC. I was trying to figure out how I could be a real life, Carrie Bradshaw.
From my quick Google search and common sense, I realized that heels are not always practical for commuting or walking around Manhattan. The movies and SATC make it look so easy for girls to strut around the streets in fancy heels but that is so not accurate. So as much as I strive to be Carrie Bradshaw and wear fancy stilettos around Manhattan, that is just not the case.
How to wear heels in NYC? Quick answer: you don’t.
Based on my Google search and now months of observations, these are the results:
-Heeled booties or wedges, that keep your foot secure are the best way to go if you want a little extra height.
-Sarah Flint shoes are also amazing for NYC. I personally think they are too pretty to wear commuting. I change into my Sarah Flint loafers or heels when I get to the office. But they are so comfortable and supportive you totally could wear them from 7am until 7pm at night. (Use my promo code: SARAHFLINT-BAELIZABETHG for $50 off)
-You wear sneakers to commute in and then change into your heels wherever you end up.
-If you wear heels, you take a cab or Uber to your final destination. I’ve done this a couple of times for nice dinners.
Sorry Carrie Bradshaw, you lied, but I still love you.
