7 Days in Jackson Hole, Wyoming: Where to Stay, Where to Eat, What to Do and What to Wear
Howdy! This is one of several posts from our week vacation in Jackson, Wyoming. This post talks about where to stay, where to eat and what to wear.
Lodging: Snow King Resort.
A very basic hotel. Nothing fancy .8 miles from the center of town. Clean. But we booked this hotel in December, and they gave us a crappy room- with a wall sharing the lobby. Every morning and every night we were woken up by people in the lobby. We requested to move rooms and they would not move us. Every time we requested housekeeping, housekeeping would not come. The one morning we did not request housekeeping, housekeeping woke us up. When we booked our stay, there was a shuttle from the airport to the hotel, right before we arrived, they said that the shuttle was not running. Eventually, my mom got the shuttle to take us to and from the hotel. The hotel does have a nice gym and outdoor pool. Overall, this hotel was not very well run. Despite all the positive reviews online, I would not recommend, but if you do not care about these things, then have at it.
Food:
- Orsetto- Delicious pasta
- Waffles on top of Rendezvous Mountain (Teton Village)
- Mangy Moose (Teton Village)
- Bunnery for brunch/lunch (we went twice)
- Le Bistro (so good we went twice for dinner- our favorite meals)
- Cloudveil Hotel for rooftop drinks
- Million Dollar Cowboy Bar for drinks
- Genevieve Café
- Hayden’s Post at hotel for breakfast buffet
- Jackson Drug for milkshakes
The food prices were very similar to prices in New York. Definitely not cheap. It was really interesting because every menu had a notice that the restaurant included an extra tip on it because of unlivable wages in Jackson. It was really sad to see considering how expensive the town was.
Things to do:
- Every night, at town square, there is an old fashion Western style shoot out at 6 pm. It is one of oldest and longest running shoot outs in history.
- Visit Teton Village. You can take the bus and then take the 10-minute gondola to the top of Rendezvous Mountain which is about 10,000 feet above sea level. The waffle shop on the top of the mountain was delicious!
- Visit Yellowstone (Separate blog post is coming soon)
- Take your picture in front of the elk antlers in town square
- Visit Grand Teton National Park (Separate blog post is coming soon)
- Walk around town of Jackson and shop (Lee’s Tees is the best for t-shirts and swag)
- The Jackson Hole Rodeo was SO FUN! It is every Saturday and Wednesday night at 8 pm. Get your tickets ahead of time because we literally bought the last 4 tickets to the show.
- Hike Snow King Mountain or take the gondola to the top
- Go horseback riding (separate blog post coming soon)
Transportation:
- We flew into Jackson, the only airport in a National Park. We originally had a direct flight and then American switched it to connections.
- The Start Bus is $3 per person each way to Teton Village
- Ubers are sooo expensive but Jackson has a free taxi service called Start. You can download the app and request a ride. We did this for most nights to and from dinner.
