In 2018, we studied abroad in France, five years later, we went back to celebrate my law school graduation! We had the best week in Paris (with day trips to Champagne and Dijon) reminiscing about old times and exploring new areas.
I am going to share multiple posts about our trip, this is the first one focused on where we stayed, where we ate and what we did.
Hotel:
I love planning, and trip planning is no different, except this time, I let the professionals handle (some of) it!
We stayed in a beautiful hotel in central Paris selected by Meghan Donovan of Paris Perfected. Meghan, a Brooklyn based gal, turned Francophile (like myself) owns this wonderful Parisian travel concierge service.
For a couple of hundred dollars Meghan helped plan our trip with a massive PDF of customized restaurants, things-to-do and lodging based on my answers from an extensive questionnaire. Meghan does not know I am writing this post or praising her on my own. I am happy to share my experience with a great small business!
So, although I won’t be sharing exactly where we stayed because it is Meghan’s intellectual property, I will share that the hotel Meghan selected based off of our preferences was DIVINE!
I would 10000% stay in this hotel again. Thank you, Meghan!
Food:
The restaurants I am sharing are restaurants that I sourced myself as Meghan owns the rights to her recommendations. If you want more of what we did, saw and ate, contact Meghan!
• Dessert on the Seine (picked up baked goods from Maison Thevenin)
• Chez Suzette for crêpes
• Peruche rooftop bar
• Paul (for sandwiches)
• Ladurée for macaroons
• Boulangerie Bonon (highly recommend going to a boulangerie for a cheap lunch)
• Carette for baked goods
• Le Minet Galant (one of our favorite meals!)
Things to do:
As stated above, everything I am sharing I sourced myself. Meghan recommended two great museums that we loved, that I will not be sharing, but you can tell her I sent you!
I fortunately have been to Paris multiple times in my life, so I was not interested in doing any of the super touristy things.
We visited some familiar old spots and adventured to some new ones.
• Shopping at Repetto, BA&SH, Galleries Lafayette, and Christian Loubiton
• Le Palais Garnier (Opera house)
• Watch the Eiffel Tower sparkle!
• Walk les Champs-Élysées and visit the l'Arc de Triomphe
• La Place Dauphine to sit for a drink
• Rent bikes for 3 Euros for 45 minutes
• Visit Emily in Paris’ office (right next to Palais Royale)
• Take tons of selfies
One final note on Paris Perfected: Meghan was a treat to work with and I highly recommend planning your Parisian trip with her especially if you are a first-time traveler to France!
